The Booster Award is presented for outstanding contributions to the Palmer Township community. It is made to the person who has exhibited outstanding service to others thus distinguishing Palmer Township through their contribution to their fellow man, business community or political environment.
Debra A. Young, or Debbie as she is known to most of us, has been an outstanding young business figure in the Palmer community for many years and an active member of the BIP since 1989. She began her career in banking in 1978 when she went to work at Lafayette Trust Bank where she took numerous banking courses over the years. She was promoted to Manager in 1989 where she was not only responsible for the day to day running of the office but also loan officer, mortgage representative, outside sales representative and coordinator of community service projects. After 3 mergers, the Palmer office was the largest branch of the entire bank with the exception of 2 previous main offices. During this time Debbie volunteered for fund raisers for the United Way, Children’s Home of Easton, Salvation Army, Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful program through PennDot and through the annual Palmer Community Weekend raised money for ARC. Debbie stepped down as Manager in 2000 after her 3 children were born but remained as a Saturday teller until 2002.
This did not stop Debbie’s involvement in community projects. She presently works as a Sales Associate for Advertising Specialties promotional products through Palmer Trophy and is very involved in the Palmer School activities and PTA. Having 3 children and Jeff to take care of is a major project.
Debbie proudly acknowledges her strongest asset during her banking career was customer service. Anyone who knows Debbie will attest to that and we are proud to have her represent Palmer Township.
